Adding and Selecting Perspectives

You can save the current layout of document windows and tool windows as perspectives and open them.

Adding a Perspective

Context

There are many different ways to design the layout of tool windows. Different layouts are suited to different modeling tasks (e.g. editing diagrams, specifying elements, creating documents).You can add the perspectives suited to your needs and access them again in the View>Arrange Windows submenu.

How to proceed
  1. Open the desired tool window.
  2. Arrange the tool window to suit your needs.
  3. Select View>Arrange Windows>Add Perspective.

    The dialog of the same name appears.

  4. Enter a unique name for the perspective.
  5. Confirm the name with [OK].

    The perspective is added alphabetically to the perspectives submenu.

Selecting a Perspective

Context

The initial and added perspectives are offered when calling a particular layout of tool windows.

How to proceed
  1. Select the desired perspective from the View>Arrange Windows submenu.

    The program interface is arranged according to your selection. This may open, close or move tool windows, depending on your selection.

Deleting a Perspective

How to proceed
  1. Select View>Arrange Windows.

    The submenu which contains the added perspectives appears.

  2. Place the mouse pointer on the perspective you want to delete.
  3. Select the Delete Perspective command in the context menu.

    The selected perspective is deleted.

Setting a Perspective to the Current Arrangement

Context

You can change an existing, added perspective by setting it to the current arrangement.

How to proceed
  1. Select View>Arrange Windows.

    The submenu which contains the added perspectives appears.

  2. Place the mouse pointer on the perspective you want to set to the current arrangement.
  3. Select the Set to Current Perspective command in the context menu.

    The selected perspective is replaced by the current arrangement.
